The Callaway Razr laser rangefinder is a first target priority rangefinder manufactured by Nikon. The Callaway Razr golf rangefinder device offers some improvements for the prior Callaway golf rangefinder models like backlight for display. The Razr rangefinder of Callaway has also been designed 10% smaller than the previous models and is among the lightest laser rangefinders in the market. It does not have slope technology which makes it legal for tournament play.
Callaway Razr laser rangefinder is always on “First Target Priority” mode. The first target priority enables measurement of distance to the nearest target within its range coverage without taking into account the stronger targets in the background. Golfers can thus easily target a flagstick accurately ignoring the trees in the backdrop. The golf rangefinder Callaway Razr is also equipped with a backlight option for display visibility during low light conditions. This feature is an improvement over the Callaway Diablo Octane. The red tint brought by the backlight to the display helps in better view of the display. However, a minus point in this feature is that it has to be turned on for every shot as it automatically turns after display of distance of a shot. There is no option to continuously keep the backlight on during low light conditions.
With dimensions of 4.4 x 1.6 x 2.8 inches and a weight of 6.3oz. without battery, the Razr Callaway laser rangefinder fits into the hands comfortably. The colour scheme of the device consists of grey, red and black and is marketed by the brand as ‘shock resistant’ with its half rubber body texture which also helps in firm hold of the device. The product box includes a bag, carabiner clip for attachment to the bag and a 3-volt CR-2 Lithium battery. The protective bag also provides for a magnetic cover for protection of the lens. The body of the Razr by Callaway is waterproof; however the battery chamber is not waterproof but water resistant.
This laser rangefinder, type Razr, has 6 x magnifications, with a slight green tint, which efficiently serves the purpose of targeting. The Diopter can be adjusted to +/- 4 degree and the device has range coverage up to 600 yards. User can choose the distance measurement unit between yards and meters.
The Razr rangefinder made by Callaway is priced in the range of other golf rangefinders without slope technology and faces direct competition from rangefinders of the Bushnell and Leupold brands. The compact and lightweight Callaway Razr golf rangefinder is equipped with some of the basic laser rangefinder features and is almost at par with its competitors in performance.
