Pros

Why should you choose the ProScope 400x golf rangefinder by Lofthouse? Let us sum up all the pros that made us very happy while testing it out. It’s a great companion on any golf course.

  • Setup and familiarization was simple

It’s surprisingly how easy it can be to set up and get familiar with this range finder. We headed to the golf course and played around a little bit around the clubhouse. Shot to some features and to the flag. Within a few minutes, we were ready to start golfing!

If you’re familiar with golf rangefinders then you should have no problem at all using this device. If you’re not familiar with a golf rangefinder, it might take a few more minutes for you to fully utilize the device – but it won’t take long. The manual is very clear and as soon as you get a grip of how this rangefinder works, you’ll notice that you’re using it as if you’ve been using it for years.

As mentioned previously, operating the Lofthouse ProScope 400x is very simple like most rangefinders (not all though!). You’ll point it at the target, hit the button, and get your reading. The big difference is that this device may be a simple gadget, but it delivers excellent reading results for you.

The included manual is very easy to understand and comes with images to explain the different settings and modes.

  • Great accurate reading results

While testing it out on the golf course, we’ve found that the reading results are very accurate. There are two modes for the readings:

  1. Golf Rangefinder Mode – In the golf rangefinder mode (flag displayed on the LCD) you have the pin seeking technology with Flag-Lock. Aim the device at the golf flag or pin and keep holding down the power button until the distance of the flag or stick is locked and displayed on the LCD. It’s very easy to use and you clearly see when the flag is locked. The Flag-Lock is a great feature and a huge plus comparing to other budget-friendly golf laser rangefinders. The Flag-Lock works up to a 250 yards range.
  2. Common Rangefinder mode – In the common rangefinder mode (no flag displayed on the LCD) you get the result to any target. Just aim the device and keep the target in the rectangle box, and press the power button. The measured result will be displayed directly on the LCD. In the common rangefinder mode, you have the scanning option as well. You can hold down the power button and scan around the golf course to targets. The distances will be updated the whole time as long as you hold down the power button. The ProScope 400x is capable of measuring distances up to 400 yards with pinpoint accuracy.

You can easily and quickly swap between the golf rangefinder mode and the common rangefinder mode by pressing the mode button. In the golf rangefinder mode you see the flag displayed in the lower left on the LCD and in the common rangefinder mode, you don’t see the flag displayed.

  1. Tournament approved

The Lofthouse golf rangefinder ProScope 400x is approved by the R&A and by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to be used in amateur tournaments and competitions all over the world.

  1. Automatic shut-off

Lofthouse ProScope 400x golf rangefinder with caseAnother great feature of this golf rangefinder is the automatic shut-off. If you don’t use the rangefinder for 30 seconds, it will save energy by turning by itself off. With this great feature, you never have to think about it and you can use the rangefinder for a long time. The CR2 battery is actually included in the package and will take a long time before it’s empty. A low battery indicator will show in due time that you need to replace the battery so you will never be on the golf course and the battery is suddenly empty. You will be warned well in advance.

  1. Carrying case is included

Users will notice that the ProScope laser rangefinder from Lofthouse comes with a strong nylon carrying case upon purchase. The carrying case alone is already impressive for being well made and durable, but its Lofthouse doesn’t stop there – they also added a pols strap and a microfiber lens cloth to clean the lens without creating scratches.

Cons

While extensively testing the Lofthouse ProScope 400x on the golf course, we couldn’t find any downsides. This golf laser rangefinder works very well and is easy to use for any golfer.

Maybe the only features what some golfers might want are the Slope and JOLT features. But this rangefinder is Tour Approved and by adding these features that approval will not be possible.
